Rachel’s List first went online in 2012, and in many ways, it was a process of learning by doing. Our small team worked hard to market our service, boost job and gig postings, trial new ways of engaging with employers. We started a shop, launched a blog, kicked off a FB community and put on events and masterclasses.
It was a learning curve (especially the events, which come with a heap of logistics we hadn’t considered). We’re super proud of how things have gone, but there’s been a lot of trial and error. We’ve experimented and used educated guesses to fill in the blanks – and paid everyone along the way – because that’s how we roll.
And, part of creating a sustainable business means it pays for itself and it makes some profit. Our team does a lot with very little. It’s time to change that, and to usher in a new era of growth within our services.
Raising our prices allows us to provide the same great service with a better enabled team – and greater flexibility to offer you more in 2022 and beyond.
Okaaaay…. so when ARE the prices going up?
We’ll be raising the prices on January 31, 2022 to $95/year for Gold membership. Fees to post jobs and gigs will be going up as well – they’ve stayed the same since we launched, so it’s time.
(This does of course mean if you don’t currently have Gold membership but want to nip in at the old price, you’ve got a couple of months to do it.)
These haven’t been easy decisions to make, but we know it’ll future-proof Rachel’s List going forward. It’ll also help us source more jobs nationwide, enable us to make necessary changes to the website, plan a heap of great new resources and masterclasses, and ensure everyone involved in the business can be paid fairly for their work.
What else is happening that I need to know about?
If you are a Gold member and you hang out in our private FB group, you’ll have an opportunity to pick up overflow work from other freelancers. This isn’t something we’ve allowed to this point, but from Jan 31, members can share leads and overflow work as much as they like.
We’re also launching the Gold Key, which is for approved job-seekers who aren’t yet Gold members. If you don’t want annual membership but you do want to occasionally access the jobs board, you can pay $25 for a Gold Key to unlock the site for 24 hours, and apply for anything you like.
There’s more to come as well, including some key site changes that we’ll unveil in January – so stay tuned for those and a little virtual walk-through we’ll do early next year.
Thanks again to everyone who’s supported us for so many years – we really do appreciate each and every one of you!
